Saving the Wild, One Story at a Time
Welcome to Field and Fauna. This platform is dedicated to exploring, celebrating, and protecting the incredible animals that call the Pacific Northwest home. From the dense coastal rainforests to the high desert, our local wildlife needs our voice.
Hi, I’m Richa Velagaleti. I’m a Pacific Northwest teenager with a deep passion for nature and conservation. Growing up surrounded by the towering Douglas firs and misty coastlines of the PNW, I fell in love with our local ecosystems early on.
But our wilderness is facing massive challenges. Climate change, habitat loss, and pollution are threatening the animals we love—from the iconic Orcas in the Sound to the Roosevelt Elk in our forests. I noticed that a lot of wildlife information out there is either too academic or hard to find. I started Field and Fauna to change that by making PNW wildlife conservation accessible, engaging, and actionable for everyone, especially my peers.
